We headed off to Quebec City with one major goal: to taste authentic poutine. We found ourselves at “Chez Gaston” and absolutely devoured some delicious poutine.

Once that craving was satisfied, we checked into our hostel and didn’t have much else planned for the day.
We decided to wander around, then spent some time catching up on work at a cozy little café.

After making a simple dinner at the hostel, we strolled the streets again, admiring the city at night,
and of course, treating ourselves to a sweet snack.

This was our dedicated tourism day. We started with a guided walk, which was super interesting and gave us great insight into the city’s history.
We saw plenty of beautiful buildings, views,…

churches,…

and this funny pink character, otherwise known as Monsieur Rose!
Afterwards, we headed to the “Musée Huron-Wendat“ and were amazed to see a life-sized recreation of a longhouse.

We then took a lovely stroll through the forest near the museum, where we enjoyed a variety of plants and informative educational signs along the path.

All that learning and walking made us hungry, so we kept with the theme and dined at “Sagamité,” where we experienced traditional Huron-Wendat flavors with a modern twist.
My sister and I shared tender elk ribs that fell right off the bone and enjoyed a hearty soup featuring the “three sisters” combination: beans, corn, and squash (an incredibly nutritious trio), with some elk thrown in for good measure.

My parents opted for the 4-course meal, starting with the Sagamité soup, followed by a puff pastry dish, and then a showstopping meat course of deer, elk, and bison, which was flambéed right at the table! They finished with a rich maple syrup tart.

Later, I couldn’t resist grabbing some caramel popcorn, which lasted us two days since we accidentally bought a bigger size than expected (a rare sight for our family)!

Bye bye Quebec!
