We made our way to Elmina, stopping at the site where enslaved people were forced to take their “last bath” before being shipped away.

The juxtaposition of the area’s natural beauty and its tragic history was heartbreaking.
In Elmina, our Airbnb overlooked salt farms, and we were treated to some of the most stunning sunsets I’ve ever seen.

We visited Kakum National Park early to avoid the heat and crowds, enjoying the breathtaking canopy walk.

The gift shop had beautiful beads and trinkets, and Isa found a very pretty outfit.
Afterwards, we had lunch at Han’s Cottage Botel, which is a hotel and the home of Sadam Husein the crocodile. We got to see, feed, and even touch the crocodiles. The sanctuary also had stunning birds and catfish.

That evening, Alfred took us to a beach side resort for dinner, where we captured beautiful photos of the sunset, and Isa got to wear her new outfit, looking like a true Ghanaian beauty.

While I stayed at the Airbnb, the others visited Elmina Castle, learning more about its history from trading post to the most important slaving fort in West Africa. My mother said it was a disturbing place to visit.
