Our day began at the “Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary“, where we encountered some of the cutest Mona monkeys I’ve ever seen.

They were so tame and we fed them bananas right from our hands—it was adorable!

Next, we visited the second-highest mountain in Ghana, Mount Gemi, which also happens to be home to Ghana’s highest human settlement, Amedzofe at more than 600 meters.
The hike to the summit wasn’t too long but very enjoyable, with a refreshing breeze and a guide who shared stories about the area’s history and environment.

It reminded me of the Swiss mountains and hiking with friends back home, making me a bit homesick.
After lunch in Amedzofe, we headed to the “Ote Waterfalls“, a truly stunning sight.

However, reaching it involved a steep descent and what felt like an even steeper climb back up! By the end of the day, we were all ready to relax and unwind.

We packed up and visited a “Zimmaziwo Snake Village,” where we learned about various snakes species and even held them.

Alfred kept a safe distance, clearly not a fan haha.

We made our way to the Wli Waterfalls, the highest in Ghana and all of West Africa. The walk to the falls was breathtaking, a true paradise with butterflies and wild life. The waterfall itself was awe-inspiring, and Sam, Xan, and I got to go swim up to it.

Feeling really cold water for the first time in ages was shocking but great.

We started our drive back to Accra, stopping at a Shai Hills Reserve where we had some lunch. There, we enjoyed observing the animals and exploring a small museum before continuing our journey back to Accra.

The following days were spent relaxing at Aunty Rose’s big house in Accra with Aunty Akua and her adorable children and nephew Bismark. We caught up with family and friends, got our hair braided, and prepared for the night flight to Dubai ahead. It was a perfect way to wind down and reflect on our incredible journey through Ghana. Thank you Aunty Rose and uncle Nicolas for letting us stay in the house!
