We had an early start as we had a packed schedule for the next 36 hours. The plan was to drive from Bangkok to Siem Reap in Cambodia to visit Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples!
The drive to the Thailand-Cambodia border was actually really nice.

We stopped at a rest area along the way and got to try loads of delicious fruits and sticky rice steamed in bamboo. One of the vendors even gave us free bananas—such a sweet first impression of Thailand!
After checking into our lovely hotel in Cambodia, we met up with our tour guide, who took us to “Tonlé Sap”—the biggest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. We hopped on a boat and went further into the lake, where we got to see a glimpse of how people live on the water. And experienced a beautiful sunset.

The lake rises so much at certain times of the year—apparently by about seven to ten metres! It was really cool to see.
Later, we went to an incredible buffet with so many food options (all delicious) and even a dance performance.

To end the day, we made the most of the hotel pool and just relaxed. Such an exciting day!

After a good night’s sleep, we headed off to explore the temples! We only had time to visit three…”
Angkor Wat,

Bayon Temple,

and Ta Prohm (aka the Tomb Raider temple).

It was so interesting to see how different yet similar they all were.
We really wished we had more time in Cambodia because it was such an amazing experience.

After a tasty lunch to refuel from all the walking, we hit the road back to Bangkok, already missing Siem Reap
