NyamoFam Travel Diaries: Family, Friends, Food, and Wonderful Places

Goa, India

January 9th

After some challenges with plane delays and visa issues, we finally landed in Goa at 1 am, where Shankar (my mum’s friend from her time in Singapore) was waiting to welcome us.

After catching up on sleep and decompressing from the journey, Shankar and Mugdha (Shankar’s wife) took us out to explore a bit. We enjoyed a charming ferry ride across the Mandovi river with the most beautiful sunset—a perfect start to our time in Goa.

January 10th–11th

Shankar and Mugdha took us to the Deshprabhu House Palace in Pernem, where we learned so much about the former Visconde de Pernem’s family history and about Goa’s rich history. We were awestruck by the sheer scale and beauty of this historic property and are thankful for the private tour we enjoyed.

Afterwards, we headed to the Beach Street Eco Resort on Madrem Beach, where we spent two days soaking up the sun, enjoying the beach, and taking in the relaxed atmosphere. It was an incredible experience.

January 12th–13th

We spent our final two days exploring the Fontainhas quarter of Panjim and Old Goa where we were steeped in history again.

We are so grateful to Mugdha and Shankar for hosting us in Goa. Thanks to them, we had the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful and unique places we might not have discovered on our own. Their home was warm and welcoming, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them. We’re already looking forward to seeing them again in Singapore!
